How to Build Your Personal Brand on Social Media

“Being effective at social media, whether for business or personal use, means capturing people who have short attention spans. They’re only a click away from a picture of a funny cat, so you have to make your thing more compelling than that cat. And that can be a high bar.” – Alexis Ohanian

Social media is known for reaching a wide range of potential people.  However, if you think you’re using social media correctly, then wait until your competitor gets to pass through you. Promoting your personal brand on social media is not just about posting who you are or what your products and services are – it is beyond what you think it is. If you want to succeed, you have to build a bond between your consumers. Easier said than done, right? Here’s How:

Identify your goals

First things first, identify your goals. What are your plans? Reasons as to why you want to build a personal brand on social media? Who are your target consumers? Are your goals attainable? In what why you can work out your strategies and how? What would you expect when you reach your goals? Keep in mind that you cannot succeed a particular promotion when you don’t even know this basic information. However, if you know and have a thorough understanding of your goals, then it would be easier for you to plan -out an effective strategy.

Keep it real

Rule of the thumb: Never promote a brand that does not project of who you are. Bear in mind that it is easier to promote a brand when the image you are projecting enhances your personal interest. Keep it real. This is also one way to grab the attention of your potential audience. Moreover, your audience would only trust you and your brand when they know you are promoting your expertise. But there is a caveat, though, try to avoid using terms or languages that only teens or adults can understand – this may only discourage other potential clients to engage in your products and/or services.

Be consistent

Consistency in your promotion is a crucial element you must consider. For instance, if you are trying to promote a real estate, then stick to it. Most importantly, you also have to be consistent with the overall quality and appearance of your products and/or services. It is in this way where you can build a brand that would remain in the minds of your audience.

Be everywhere

One of the advantages of using social media is that you can choose various media platforms in promoting your personal brand. You can use the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. With these platforms, you can boost your online visibility, which would also lead to brand awareness. Although you may be using different social media platforms, make sure you still apply the same strategy to make sure you are still consistent with your brand. This is also one way to boost your credibility to your audience.

Stay strong

A successful promotion should be strong enough to convince your potential audience to engage with your brand. Keep in mind that a strong brand pays attention to every single detail. What makes your brand interesting? What are the advantages your clients would get when they engage with your brand? It is in this way where you can convince your audience that you are promoting a strong brand.

Regardless of the strategy you use, promoting a personal brand is not that hard as you think it is. Know that your personal brand is the foundation of your marketing efforts. That only means, make sure to use the right approach that will connect your brand with your audience.
